BOOM WYNDHAM "GILBERT" CLARK! 50/1 at US OPEN was really a nice treat. Honestly the best part was we had Sam Burns and Wyndham Clark and had to have been like 99.99% chance that either of those 2 would win at about 4pm Sunday. One of the more enjoyable Sundays sweating golf in probably a year.
We are now headed to TPC River Highlands for the Travelers Championship. Althought it is a signature event, I do like this course and it seems to put up some exciting finishes with players having the ability to go low, but also can make bogeys around some of these greens. Nonetheless, I know this is probably a lull of a week post-US Open, so I will jump right into the course data and interesting tidbits I researched this week.
Course Overview
So this is definitely a short course, but not really a less than driver course. we see 7 tee shots between 290-310, and our driving metric because of this leans into driving accuracy over distance. Hitting the fairways here are very important, and with so many drivers and so many wedges leading to so many birdies, we need our players to be hitting more fairways than the field and then capitalizing on good approach play.
