Intro
Welcome back everyone! What a win by Koivun last week. No surprise he got his first win so fast, and especially at the 3M Open which seems to pump out top collegiate's first-wins, but I think I am more surprised that he missed the cut at the John Deere Classic. Still can't believe that, on that course. But nonetheless, I did miss his outright but got Kohles FRL, so overall a good week. Congrats to Sirk for staying on him at 36/1.
We move to the Rocket Classic this week in a pretty good field. Now there has been a lot of changes to the course, which we will discuss, but most of the changes really just alter scoring but not the playability or strategy of the course overall. So let's get into it. Should be short and quick.
Course Preview
Detroit Golf Club has seen a lot of changes but I don't see this changing any real playability of the course. Is there a little less freedom off the tee? Yes. Are the greens "potentially" a little more difficult to get to certain pins or hit close from 200+ yards. In theory, yes. But Detroit Golf Club saw 12 of 14 holes with tee shots of 290-310, and I don't see that % shifting. Funny enough, the first year Detroit Golf Club hosted this tournament, there was more success from players playing safer off the tee, and accuracy was a moderate factor. But since then, players figured out that there's a lot of room to miss off the tee and still have good approach shots into the greens.
