Welcome back all. Pretty good stretch of events coming up, and US Open Sectionals next week as well.

This week I am going to highlight the basics of the course and how to get the most out of your time spent in FGB Studio, how I approached this field and some lower owned values that are very intriguing for large-field GPPs.

Muirfield Village Golf Club

Position! Position! Position!

Driving is arguably the most important attribute here, but as discussed on the podcast, which part of the OTT equation is really building it's case for success at MV? Really it's 60/40 Distance/Accuracy. We have seen some players fair okay being much shorter than the field, but we have also seen the longest players get handicapped by hole setups. Driving Distance is negated and honestly not a priority for the top players. Position off the tee, as you can see in our Course Summary chart is preferred as Driving Accuracy is actually higher at MV than the PGA Tour average, while Driving Distance is less.

What does this mean? It means that SG OTT, even Field Adj SG OTT is not as predictive 1 to 1 to SG OTT at Muirfield Village. So is it valuable? Yes, but it is not to the level of predictive power we would want for a single stat.
